“WEEK OF THE VESELI SPUST”

“The Veseli Spust” is the oldest and most cheerful river descent event in Serbia. It takes place on the Ibar River, from the medieval town of Maglič to Kraljevo, along a route approximately 25 km long, gathering over 10,000 participants. The descent is accompanied by brass bands, singing, and barbecues on improvised rafts made of styrofoam, car tires, and similar materials. On the evening before the event, Kraljevo transforms into a large stage, with parties happening everywhere—in cafés, nightclubs, and river rafts—while a major concert spectacle featuring some of the most prominent regional performers is always held in the central square. Several events have been combined into the Veseli Spust. One of them is the “Silver Cauldron” festival, where culinary teams compete in cooking the best bean stew, held on the day of the main event in Mataruška Banja.
