The surrounding area of mountain Fruška Gora
The slopes of Fruška Gora have been covered in vineyards since the Middle Ages. When in the area, definitely take a tour of the Fruška Gora wineries. We suggest you do so at dusk, when you’re most relaxed and finally ready to sample the local wines “straight from the source”.
Fruška Gora
Fruška Gora mountain is a favourite picnic area for the locals of Novi Sad and their visitors. This national park boasts more than 1500 different plant species, as well as many rare and endangered species of insects, birds, amphibians and reptiles.
Its fairy-tale-like expanse elicits strong emotions in everyone. The mountain is interspersed with hiking and mountain cycling trails and dotted with various sport fields and a myriad of spots to enjoy a picnic with family and friends.
At the very peak lies Stražilovo, a famous picnic ground and site of the tomb and monument of the great Serbian poet Branko Radičević.

Not far away from here, near Iriški venac pass, you will find the imposing monument named “Freedom”, a symbol of the fight against fascism, dedicated to the soldiers fallen in World War II.

Monasteries of Fruška Gora
Apart from its splendid nature, Fruška Gora also offers spiritual pleasures to those who visit the many Orthodox Christian monasteries on its northern and southern slopes. As many as 17 monasteries were erected here in the late Middle Ages, when the centre of Serbian spiritual life moved to the North under pressure from Ottoman Turks.
