Autumn colours and flavours

Grapes ripen as the summer passes by. And September is the month during which this fruit and wine is celebrated throughout Serbia. Hosts in wine-growing areas don’t need to be convinced of the quality of blue and white fruits. They are equally admired by both hedonists and wine lovers.

And how are grapes celebrated? The people of Smederevo know best. And they will show that at the Smederevo Autumn Festival held from 10 to 12 September. After a one-year break, the traditional manifestation returns to the Danube, in accordance with the epidemiological measures.

The people of Smederevo celebrated grapes at the end of the 19th century for the first time, and to this day, the Smederevo Autumn Festival has become the most important tourist and economic event in the Danube region with about 100,000 visitors a day. In addition to the guests having the opportunity to evaluate the harvest and enjoy the flavors of local wines, they will also be reminded of how the city has changed throughout the centuries. All this through numerous exhibitions, parades and defile of medieval knights and rich cultural and artistic program in the far-famed Smederevo Fortress.

In the very center of the city, there is the so-called "Wine City" - a corner that consists of houses built from authentic barrels hundreds of years old, as well as streets named after the wines which this area is famous for.

Come and see for yourself the beauties of the Smederevo vineyards!
