The National Tourism Organisation of Serbia organized the first official visit of Chinese tourists to Serbia from October 8-10. The arrival of Chinese tourists is a result of Memorandum of Understanding signed between China National Tourism Administration and the Republic of Serbia.

With the aim to increase the number of Chinese tourists visiting Serbia, and to promote Serbia as a tourist destination, The Memorandum also defines a new liberalized visa regime for Chinese group visits.

Statistics for Chinese tourists

In the period from January to August 2012, the number of tourists from the People's Republic of China has risen by 37% compared to the same period last year. Chinese tourists who visited Serbia made 8.574 overnights in total, and stayed 2.7 days in average.
