"“ŽUPA GRAPE HARVEST FESTIVAL"

The famous wine event of this part of Serbia, held every September since 1963, brings together the best winemakers and grape growers of Župa to celebrate the beginning of the grape harvest. Each year, hundreds of thousands of visitors from the country and abroad flock to Župa to enjoy a rich cultural and artistic program, a wide variety of food, and wine from the famous wine fountain, sharing in the joy of the new harvest and young wine with the hospitable hosts. The Wine Fountain, located in the center of the town of Aleksandrovac, is unique in the world; during the harvest days, instead of water, red Župa wine flows from it—a symbol of human birth and continuity. Wine Street is one of the main attractions of the Župa Harvest Festival. Along it, the finest winemakers and grape growers of the region present and offer their wines, brandies, and other products to visitors in distinctive ethno-style stalls. During the days of the Župa Harvest Festival, the “Agricultural Exhibition” is a must-see—an event that truly showcases the wealth and hard work of the people of Župa, reflected in the abundance of fruits gathered from the region’s fertile lands. Great attention from visitors during the festival is also drawn to the Museum of Viticulture and Winemaking, a guardian of the centuries-old tradition of grape growing and wine production in Župa. The museum is housed in an old wine cellar of the agricultural school in Aleksandrovac.
