Gradac
The Monastery of Gradac is located in the Raska municipality, about 250km southwest of Belgrade.
Built in the second half of the 13th century, is an endowment of Helen of Anjou, the wife of King Uros I. The church is predominantly in the style of the Raska school, with some Gothic elements. Unfortunately, few of Gradac’s frescos have survived intact. Some art is now preserved at the National Museum in Belgrade. Nearby are the Stara Pavlica (12th and 13th century) and Nova Pavlica (14th century) churches, Mount Kopaonik, Golija Mountain and the Jošanicka Banja hot springs. |
